About Us

Chuck started building engines in 1957 while still a student at Mackenzie High. After graduation in 1959 he started working full time. He worked at Wolverine Motors in Detroit where his friend and mentor, Lefty Straub, taught him the ins and outs of the engine business. In 1972 Chuck struck out on his own. Chuck's Engine Exchange is a small family run business where Chuck himself still routinely puts in 12 hour days. Chuck likes the old classic engines which were new back when he first started. Chuck's son Rick specializes in the street rod end. If you need a Flathead Ford built see Chuck, but if it's performance you need, see Rick. Daughter Donna chases parts, delivers engines and takes care of the office and paperwork. Lonnie has been with us for 30 years and is in charge of the head department. Dan does the block boring and milling.
